Ritchie Blackmore Celebrates His 65th Birthday Today
It seems inconceivable to us fans reared on Deep Purple and/or Rainbow, but legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore is 65 today.
Blackers – born Richard Hugh Blackmore on April 14, 1945 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset – will doubtless be raising a flagon or two of medieval mead in celebration.
And it looks like new music from the man and his partner, Candice Night, is on the way.
The following statement from Ritchie has been posted on the Blackmore’s Night website:
‘April 2010 finds us diligently working in the studio and going into final mix stage on the new Blackmore’s Night CD.
‘Candice and I and our minstrel band are looking forward to performing some of our new songs and your favorites from past albums in September.
‘Remember – April also bring us our favorite minstrel’s birthday: April14.’
The message adds:
‘If you want to send a message to Ritchie, please send it to Ritchie@blackmoresnight.com [up to] April 16 – all messages will be personally delivered during this time frame!’
If you email Blackmore, tell him Classic Rock sent you! And how about that long-awaited interview?
Happy birthday, Ritchie.
