Great LP, but what about a concert, i’m sure the first monsters of rock festival 1980 was filmed lets have that as well.
ps not as good as RJD rainbow but a damm good album all the same.

Kurt A Van Daele

Ole Graham Bonnet was kind of a one-album guy, wasn’t he? He only did one (Assault Attack) with Michael Schenker too.

Gobberz

Definately an underrated record. It certainly isnt the best Rainbow record but songs like the ones mentioned and Eyes of the World are brilliant.

arctangent

what a crap 2nd disk. i agree with keith – where’s the live stuff?

Soul Mover

Great news, sandly underrated album !! Personally I have great affection of this album even though Bonnet was slightly misplaced imagewise, I mean come on….Hawaii shirt, aviator shades, suit and short hair !! At first I thought they´d recruited the twin brother of James Dean !! Nothing wrong with the guys effort though, great voice, killer album and great on stage, caught them live in Stockholm january 1980….!!!

The instrumental stuff on CD2 has been available for ages on boots etc but good to see it get an official release. Yes, the Donnington show would have been the perfect accompaniment to a deluxe DTE, esp. as it was Cozy’s last show. I was there, covered in mud, right in front of the banjo player when he smashed his Strat. Happy days! Here’s hoping that the Donnington show gets a release along with other live Bonnet stuff.

Long Live Rainbow!
You guys are right. Where´s the official dvd of the very first Monsters of Rock feat. Ritchie & Co?
I´ve had the opportunity to meet Mr. Bonnet couple of times. A perfect gentleman for sure. Very humble person and who cares of the look when you had what it takes: The voice! It was the reason Ritchie recruited the man into Rainbow in the first place after all.
I guess You´ve all seen the footage of the gig mentioned. It always brings a big smile on your face when Ritchie wants Graham to sing The Shirelles number “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”.
If I only think the (now) impossible reunion of this line-up! I saw the Great late Cozy Powell on stage only once, but the Legend lives – Forever.
Cheers, mates!

Definitely a rather pointless 2nd disc. But a good initiative. I always wondered why the Rainbow albums didn’t get deluxe expanded editions as all the 70’s purple have.
DELUXE EDITION FOR ALL RAINBOW ALBUMS (specially the ones with Dio)

Looking forward to this release. This was one of the first albums I ever bought. While I think that Dio is king I also think that this is a vastly underrated Rainbow disc. OK there was a lot of commercialism but songs like ‘Eyes of the World’ and ‘Lost in Hollywood’ contain some of Blackmore’s finest work. It’ll be great to hear some of the studio out-takes.

Andy DiGelsomina

An all time favorite of mine, and it blows away the debut Rainbow album. The songs on the debut were way better live. Of course, I’m a bit biased when it concerns Mr. Bonnet.
