Rage To Play Free Show If They Top Christmas Chart
Rage Against The Machine will play a free UK show if Killing In The Name is Number One for Xmas. Not only that, but the band will ask Simon Cowell to host the event! Says guitarist Tom Morello: “Attention Freedom Fighters! RAGE VS. X-FACTOR WILL BE DECIDED BY SATURDAY’S SALES. Spread the word! Knock on doors! Host downloading parties! Knock over ladies buying X-Factor! The clock is ticking. And if Killing in the Name is number one WE ARE COMING. And it will be the victory party to end all victory parties.”
What more reason do you need to download the song – NOW!
In the meantime, Sir Paul McCartney has backed RATM in the battle of the charts. He told the BBC: “Everyone expects Joe (McElderry) to do it. If he goes to Number One then good luck to him. He’s just some kid with a career ahead. I’ve got nothing against that, but it would be kind of funny if Rage Against The Machine got it because it would prove a point.”

What has RATM at number one for Xmas proved?
1) Did it promote a young British rock band who’d paid their dues as an alternative to X Factor?
2) Did it allow a like-for-like comparison as to how weak the X factor contestants are – which would’ve been the case if Journey’s original ‘Don’t stop believin’ had been the chosen vehicle for an anti-x factor single?
Or, did it – put more money in the pocket of Sony (The Corporate ‘Machine’)as the record company to which both X factor and RATM are signed, through promoting a false competition featuring two of its own artists?
Rage against the ‘Machine’ indeed.
