Portnoy Denies Prog Supergroup Story
Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has dismissed reports that he’s working on a project with Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson and Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth.
Talking to PyroMusic.net, the drummer said:
“The three of us each mentioned wanting to work with each other years ago, and since then it’s kind of been this rumour that won’t go away. I think all three of us regret ever mentioning it at this point, but I think the hype or anticipation around it has surpassed anything we possibly could realistically deliver.”
Dream Theater are teaming up with Opeth, BigElf and Unexpect for the Progressive Nation tour next month. The dates are Manchester Apollo October 9, London Wembley Arena 10, Glasgow SECC 11.

Who needs a prog supergroup when we have OSI? Latest release, Blood, is spunkarooney!!! Get a listen.
Ah well I guess that’s been put to rest. It would have been pretty cool though. Agreed on OSI’s Blood. Gavin’s drumming has made a hell of an impact on the album.
