Gilmour Denies Floyd Reunion At London 2012

Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour has shot down rumours of a band reunion at this summer’s London 2012 Olympics.

Yesterday’s London Evening Standard newspaper quoted an unnamed Floyd ‘insider’ as saying:

“It’s long been made clear it would take something very special to get Pink Floyd back together again and it doesn’t get any bigger than the Olympics.

“They have been a major part of the nation’s culture over the past 40 years and it will be very fitting that they’re involved when London is on show to the world. It’s hoped everything can be confirmed in the coming weeks.”

Gilmour and Nick Mason briefly joined Roger Waters on stage at London’s O2 Arena last year during the latter’s The Wall tour.

However, last night Gilmour issued a response to the rumour and insisted that Floyd will not be appearing at the Olympics.

A spokesman for the Floyd guitarist stated: “David Gilmour can confirm that there is no truth in the media speculation that Pink Floyd are reuniting to perform for the 2012 London Olympics.”
