Ozzy And Iommi Issue Statement About Sabbath Trademark
Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi have issued a joint statement on the recent resolution of their dispute over the Black Sabbath trademark.
Ozzy had sued Iommi claiming that the guitarist had no right to register the band’s trademark, and demanding 50 per cent of the earnings from this.
Now the pair has said:
“Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi of the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath have amicably resolved their problems over the ownership of the Black Sabbath name and court proceedings in New York have been discontinued. Both parties are glad to put this behind them and to cooperate together for the future and would like it to be known that the issue was never personal, it was always business.”
Whether this public smoothing-over of the problem is a prelude to a much-rumoured reunion of the original Black Sabbath line-up remains to be seen. Right now, nobody concerned is ruling it out.

Hoo-bleedin’-rah, common sense has finally prevailed, although I think the paw-print of Sharon Frogspawn is all over this ridiculous court-case (have you seen her lately, she’s becoming a Pete Burns tribute act).
I’ll never forgive Ozzy for this or the removal of Lee and Bob from the remasters of the Blizzard of Ozz albums, mind you, I’m sure he doesn’t give a stuff, he’s got his houses and his money.
I fully support Lee over the disgusting behaviour of Ozzy Osbourne and the removal of his name from the blizzard of ozz albums. Lee Kerslake is a fine drummer and i have always loved his contribution when he was in Uriah Heep……. so well said Lee. Ozzy would have been nothing without Tony and Geezer and Bill. Anyway, as far as i was concerned, Black Sabbath were much better when the late great Ronnie James Dio became vocalist.
Looks like another reunion and yet another greatest hits tour on the way. What a pity. Would’ve thought Iommi and Butler would have got the taste for playing new music and more accomplished vocalists after working with Ronnie again. Surely they’d be better served musically by doing a new project with someone like Glenn Hughes?
couldnt agree more Lee. Lee and Bob both played on those albums and the credits were removed. this was not very kind to them and i thought it was an injustice to both of them.
the whole episode was so childish but both of those musicians rose above it and got on with the business of playing and joined great bands in their careers.
