Oh My Gosht: Rock In India Unveils Dal Line-Up
Indian rock and metal fans are spitting vindaloo after the promoters for Rock In India booked two surprising acts to headline this year’s events in Dehli and Bangalore on February 20 and 22, respectively.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Richard Marx and The Backstreet Boys are the main attraction for the retitled Rock ‘N India 2010 shebang.
When you consider that in the two previous years that the festival has happened the headliners were Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Machine Head, you can see why people are rather taken aback.
This year’s line-up certainly doesn’t set Classic Rock‘s tikka racing.
However, the organisers have chosen to ignore protests from fans, who want different headliners chosen.
They reply: “There has been a long-standing request from many music fans to our website that they would like to see mainstream music, and also classic rock.
“Rock In India is a ‘music’ festival. Rock In India does not mean the genre rock only.
“Being a fan, you have right to an opinion. (But) being a promoter, no artist is big or small to us. All artists are respected equally and not looked down upon just because they are a pop artist! We respect their music!”
