There is no new Van Halen album, despite rumours to the contrary.
There have been reports recently that the band – vocalist David Lee Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen – were in the studio working on a record for release next year. But Janie Van Halen, Eddie’s wife and spokesperson, has told rollingstone.com: “What is going around is exactly that, rumours. I don’t have any updates at this time”.

Surprise surprise..
Why do I like this band so much? They give the fans the very minimum possible. It makes me think they’re actually incapable anymore. When was the last time they recorded new material of worth? For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge?
I have finally.. 25 years after the ‘’split”.. givn up believing or caring what EVH and Roth say anymore. At least Hagar is still creative.
I love Van Halen, but if the new stuff with Roth is anything like “Me Wise Magic” then I’ll pass anyway. What I don’t understand why VH leaves money on the table by ignoring its back catalog (how about a Deluxe Edition of “1984″ with a concert from that year included?) or not issuing even a live CD/DVD from their reunion tour with DLR a couple years back. That’s just dumb.
I agree with the above comments from Wavey and HuffStuff 100%. I’m sick of being messed around by one of my favourite bands. The only reason I don’t denounce them entirely is that as a younger fan (18) I’ve never had a chance to see them live, and unlikely as it is, if they announced a UK tour there’s not a force on earth that could keep me from being there.
suddenly they realised… where is mike?, and bloody hell dave cant sing!
Sadly I don’t think there’ll be a UK tour. Money talks (and BS walks) and I can’t see a promoter offering enuff to get them over here. It’d probably be cheaper to build a flux capacitor, bung it in me Rover and try to get to 88 mph in a vain effort to go back to 1984…
Having seen them on their ‘08 reunion tour in the US, I can say that the magic is still there with Dave in the band. However, their refusal to capitalize on it is baffling to no end. Maybe they just don’t have the heart for it anymore. Long live Chickenfoot =P
I agree there won’t be a tour.. they’ve rarely ventured outside the US anyway.
TV.. I’ve seen them a few times in various formations over the years so I’ve been luckier than you.. and they’re well worth seeing. I’ll be there next to you in the queue should a miracle happen haha
Big Al.. yes I agree Roth can’t sing.. but he can perform. Studio trickery can sort out any voice and I really don’t care as long as the song and the vibe is there. You hit the nail on the head though with the all important missing VH sound ingredient and thats Mike Anthony.
Long live Chickenfoot indeed.. I concur!
I Still don’t understand how they can catagorize their tour with “Jim Dandy” Roth as a reunion tour.Mike wasn’t there so three out of four does not a reunion tour make.If that’s the case they’ve always had three in the band.
I have dedicated a rib to Van Halen and it will always be but I understand people’s frustrations with VH, their lack of UK visits is my main one. Lived in the States for a bit and got to see them in FLA on their Unlawful..tour but their last good record, actually song to be precise was Cabo Wabo. Van Hagar never really did it for me the way Roth/VH did. I still love Fair Warning, it’s in my top 5 albums of all time that one. But, the shine is gone, long gone but I guess that’s whats happens with age eh? That said, still got a major soft spot for them and hope they get their American asses over to UK soil soon. Come on, make it count!!!
Ybx
Have always enjoyed Van Halen with either David or Sammy, but nothing new in over is it around 17 years
pretty poor!!!!!!!!!!
Dave couldn’t sing since the first day he tried and has been milking the image he purloined from Jim Dandy for almost forty years now and has nothinbg new to offer the world.Everything solo he tried failed and it took him eight tries to get back in Van Halen and even then it wasn’t Van Halen because Eddie fired Mike for insignificant reasons and that will haunt the band for the rest of their days assuming there are any more days.
Please come play at the rosebowl from your hometown Pasadena. we need you guys!!!
