Come inside for the latest on Polish prog sensations Riverside, Muse, Winger… plus the best news of the year so far: LA glam legends D’Molls are coming over for a UK tour!
- DOUBLE RIVERSIDE
Polish prog band Riverside are to play two shows in Britain towards the end of the year. These are at the Islington 02 Academy in London on November 15 and the Robin 2 in Bilston the next night. Fast-rising young British band The Pineapple Thief are to support at both dates.
- MUSE DEBUT NEW SONGS
Muse debuted three new songs when they played a show at The Den in their home town of Teignmouth, Devon on September 4. All three – The Uprising, Resistance and United States Of Eurasia – come from new album The Resistance, due out on September 14.
- BUNNYMAN KILLED
Jake Brockman, keyboard player with Echo & The Bunnymen since 1989, has been killed in a motorbike accident on the Isle Of Man. He was rushed to hospital, but died a few hours later.
- DOWN’S MAD ROCKUMENTARY
Down are to release the rockumentary Down – Diary Of A Mad Band in 2010. But a snippet is to be previewed at Kronk Fest 2009, which happens in Pontiac, Michigan on September 20. Down singer Phil Anselmo will be making a personal appearance at the event, being held to raise funds for world renowned boxing centre the Kronk Gym
- TURN ZE SPOTLIGHT ON ZE PICTURE
A huge picture of Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine is now adorning a building in Kavarna, Bulgaria. This was painted by Jasen Nenkov, who has previously painted portraits of Ian Gillan, Ronnie James Dio and Glenn Hughes for other buildings in the city. Those crazy Bulgarians!
- D’MOLLS ON TOUR
D’Molls, the reunited 1980s LA glam band, are to come to the UK for the first time towards the end of the year. They’ll be playing four shows in total. So far confirmed are the Underworld in London on November 5, Dudley JB’s on November 8. You can watch D’Molls perform their all-time classic song 777 here.
- WINGER KARM INTO THEIR OWN
Winger are to release their new album, Karma, through Frontiers Records on October 19. The band’s fifth studio album, it follows their reunion record IV, released three years ago.
