Near Riot At Metallica Show In South America

There was chaos when Metallica played in Chile.

Around 120 people were arrested during the band’s show on Tuesday night (January 26) at the Club Hipico Horse Racing Grounds in Santiago, where more than 50,000 crammed in to see the metal legends.

The trouble started when fans without tickets tried to break in and Chilean police attempted to push them back with water cannons.

The fact that the police were using old NWOBHM albums as riot shields was widely seen as an an inflammatory gesture.

Most of the arrests were for possession of drugs, drinking in public and disorderly conduct.

“The fact that the police were using old NWOBHM albums as riot shields was widely seen as an an inflammatory gesture.”

Was it, “Strong arm of the law” by saxon?

Wasn’t it in Chile that there was a supposed riot during Maiden’s gig there? It was reported that it was this massive hoo-haa where cops were bashed and the whole world was coming to an end but it turned out to be some overly inventive journalism. Very interested to hear what really happened at Santiago, probably just a few miffed people a bit annoyed at having to sit through St. Anger…
