Muse Man Wants Download Tax

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy believes the answer to the ongoing downloading problem might lie in a tax based on usage.

Says Bellamy:

“Usage should have a value. Someone who just checks email uses minimal bandwidth, but someone who downloads 1GB per day uses way more, but at the moment they pay the same.

“It is clear which user is hitting the creative industries and it is clear which user is not, so for this reason, usage should also be priced accordingly.

“The end result will be a taxed, monitored ISP based on usage which will ensure both the freedom of the consumer and the rights of the artists.”

That’s sorted that one out, then.

Yes that is what we need, another tax. Next stupid idea please………

Oh right I see – its not bad enough that I get taxed on everything I earn, spend and save, and get the square root of F*ck all in return for it – I now need to pay for downloading? Its a bit presumptious to assume I’m downloading music illegally – maybe I’m downloading vids from Youtube, large text files for work or maybe I’m checking out some porn….. so Muse would have me paying a wanking tax – brilliant!! What an arseh*le! Whats next? a tax for having ears and LISTENING?!?!? Might as well just tax me for being alive then….tosser.

…says Bellamy from his foreign tax haven.

My 17 year old son and I are both in bands and upload and download song ideas with other band members. So according to Mr Bellamy we should now pay a tax on our creativity to ensure that he gets more money. It’s alright for him he’s “made it” but what about those of us still making music for fun or trying to get somewhere?

I always thought he was a self opinionated, arrogant f*@kwit. Now he’s confirmed it.
