Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee Plans Roller Coaster Drum Kit

In the current edition of Rhythm magazine Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee revealed his plans for an insane roller coaster drum kit.
He told Rhythm: “My dream and goal, and I will do it, is to build a roller coaster that can pack up and travel from city to city. It will have all the workings of a roller coaster, but I’ll get rid of the car and replace it with a drum riser with two seats on the back.

“I’ll run out into the audience, grab a couple of fans, strap them in and go! I see it all in my head.”

The musical accompaniment to this stunt would be Tommy speeding up and slowing down his playing in time with the ride.

He has even planned the layout of the ride: “You have a huge sound system which opens up at one side of the stage, the riser comes out and does a huge drop, goes upside down in a loop, then goes up around the people in the back seats, does another loop in the middle of the arena, then travels up again until it stops. Then we do the whole thing backwards!”

From anyone else this would sound like pure dreaming but from the man that gave you the rotating drum riser (see below) it’s most probably quite serious.

Tommy was talking to Rhythm as part of their 30 wildest drummer feature.

Alton Tower’s plans for ‘Tommy Lee: The Ride’ where participants get shot full of more drugs and alcohol than any one human can take before, being fired though a simulation chamber of a turbulent marriage to a supermodel, soundtracked by several years worth of rap-metal, before eventually returning to their original high point of departure, are still unconfirmed.

Very musical. I’ve just invented something, too – an Anti-Wife-Beater Kit. Lee should hide in shame.
