Mike Starr Was ‘Desperate For Drugs’
A voicemail message recorded just before Mike Starr’s death reveals that the ex-Alice In Chains bassist was in urgent need of a fix.
Starr can be heard on the phone to a mystery friend pleading for drugs:
“Give me a call right away, I got something really important to tell you. You’ll be really excited.
“Also, if you could score me an eighth, quarter ounce, a bud, whatever, you know, a killer price.
“Just come up this way. I need it so bad.”
The bassist, who was only 44 years old, was found dead in Utah on Tuesday (March 8).
TMZ.com also talked to a man claiming to be Starr’s roommate.
The unnamed man said: “Mike had been using methadone recently in an effort to get sober – but he had also been taking medication to battle anxiety issues he had been suffering from.”
According to the roommate, Starr was “mixing” the medication Monday night, just hours before he died.
An autopsy was conducted yesterday, but the results of toxicology tests could take up to two months.
