Mick Karn, R.I.P.
Mick Karn, a founder-member of Japan, has died at the age of 52. He has been suffering from cancer for a while.
TThe bassist, born Adonis Michaelides in Cyprus, was a fonder-member of Japan who, after starting out as a glam-style band, became renowned for their cutting edge musical experimentation.
When the band split up in 1982, Karn carried on trying different musical styles with Dali’s Car, who also featured former Bauhau frontman Pete Murphy. He subsequently played with Gary Numan, Kate Bush and Joan Armatrading.
Karn was also a renowned sculptor.
