Rose Tattoo’s Mick Cocks: He Rocks No More
Rose Tattoo guitarist Mick Cocks has died after a battle against liver cancer.
The band have issued the following brief statement:
‘We’re very sad to announce that Rose Tattoo founding member and guitarist Mick Cocks lost his battle against liver cancer and passed away today, on December 22.’
Cocks was a member of the band for their first two albums, before quitting to join fellow Aussie rockers Heaven. He was part of the Rose Tattoo reunion in 1993, and then again when the band reformed five years later.
The Tatts seem to be plagued by cancer. Both guitarist Pete Wells and bassist Ian Rilen succumbed to the disease in 2006. The band also featured guitar legend Lobby Loyde, who died of cancer in 2007.

R.I.P. big man. Sadly missed. Much imitated, never equalled.

Great band, great muscician. R.I.P.
RIP to one of the great under-apprieciated musicians this country has ever produced. The Rosey Tatts deserved far better recognition than they got overseas too.
There’s only Angry left now. Shame.
If, as the song said, there is a rock n roll heaven, then you know Mick Cocks will be throwing shapes with the best of them.
One of the boys, and one of the best. Met him during the Tatts German tour in 2007 and he was one of the nicest blokes I’ve ever met. TFFT.
Great band and great guitarist. Their music will live on forever! R.I.P.
Im saw Mick play with the Tatts at the Scala a couple of years ago. A great and very under-rated guitairist.
RIP Mick
R.I.P Mick . Top guitarist in the greatest band to play attitude rock poetry and grinding riffs . Will miss you Mick , forever Tatts
