Methods Of Mayhem: The People’s Album!
Methods Of Mayhem, featuring Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, are to release their new album in May – and it’s unusual, to say the least.
The record’s called A Public Disservice Announcement and includes online collaborations with fans from across the world. The way Lee worked it, he and his team wrote and recorded a batch of songs. They then uploaded these,and invited people to add in anything they wanted. This led to over 10,000 submissions, ranging from guitar solos to spoken word and techno ideas.
The best of these have now been incorporated into the songs, the first time anything like this has ever been attempted.
Says Lee: “This really was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had making a record, other than the first time I made a record — because there’s nothing quite like popping your cherry! This record was the craziest thing ever. Parts were sent in from all over the world by people wanting to participate in the first once-in-a-lifetime global collaboration. It was insane, dude!”
