Metallica Speak Out About Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction
After the news that Metallica would join Run DMC, Jeff Beck and others in being inducted into this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the metal behemoths have spoken about “leaving out the crap” and celebrating. Check it out!
Speaking at a press conference at yesterday’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame announcement, Metallica’s James Hetfield said “Life is good in Metallica right now,” and when asked who will induct the metal titans, he commented, “I think that’s an ongoing discussion,” he said. “Between who the people actually know and care about, who actually respects you as a band… You don’t want just some popular guy who’s attracting TV viewers to induct you just because of that.”
He also revealed that former bassist Jason Newstead had been invited to be part of the proceedings. “There’s been an invite put out, no doubt,” said Hetfield. “We want everyone to celebrate – everyone who’s been a part of it. Jason has been a big part of that. You don’t want to see the drama of a… unfortunately, Blondie or [Sex] Pistols or Van Halen. It’s ridiculous. This is Metallica’s moment – along with others – but let’s celebrate. Let’s forget the crap.”
He also added that “I would like to think that Cliff (Burton) would love this.”
If they had any dignity left they would turn down the induction. The R&R Hall of Fame is the place where bands go to die.
I hope Jason Newsted has the good sense to decline their offer.
Heroes to zeroes! Metallica were the very best metal band of the eighties by a country mile but today they have completely lost it after disappearing up their own fundaments! Still we’ve got ‘Ride The Lightning’ and ‘Master of Puppets’ and I’m grateful for that.
Deep Purple has already declined to be includedn in the RARHOF. Ian Gillan explained: “we’re modern band, we exist now, for god, we’re NOT museum-band and part of history, our history continues even now. RARHOF is kind of shit for celebrities, not for us. We’re just musicians who loves music and not the feeling of being popular or so. So, let Madonna to entertain being inducted in the RARHOF, we wouldn’t like to be there along with Madonna or such kinds of jokers.”
So, Metallica’s members, be just musicians and don’t do your best to turn into celebrities. because, being MUSICIAN is far more great one, in comparison with being “celebrities”

the main reason Deep Purple still exists, is that they never tried to be celebrities, coz being celebrity means that you’ll last till you are in fashion… and being musician means that you’ll last till the music exists itself. Deep Purple has lasted for the half of century (They are celebrating 40 years of band) and are touring till now, quite successfully.
I’m not sure that Metallica will last more then 3-4 years. Once they will be inducted in the RARHOF, Metallica, as band, will die and become the possesity of history… and who cares about history and past? I’d like to care for the present and future
Firstly the music that the Purps play compared to Metallica is miles apart. The sheer physicality of a Metallica show far outweighs a Purps show. Sorry but that’s a fact. Yes DP are “musicians” but so are Metallica. Accepting an award doesn’t make them celebrities. Or does that mean anyone accepting a BRIT award or a Grammy or a MOBO is a “celebrity”? Oh and by the way… should we mention the celebrity (for chariddy mate) version of Smoke On The water released in the late 80s??
The main reason that Purple still exists is not because they never tried to be celebrities (because to be fair their day was the 70s…. pretty certain they were “celebrities” then…) it’s because of the 93 “reunion” failed and Blackmore left. If this reunion hadn’t happened I very much doubt whether DP would still be active today.
Secondly 40 years is not half a century, 50 years is. It’s worth pointing out that Metallica have been together since 1981 so that’s…. uh….28 years. What’s length of time got to do with it?? It’s quality of music that matters and as much as this may hurt the current DP output is not even close to the 70s output. Rapture of The Deep?? Fireball stamps all over it. Just as Master of Puppets stamps all over St Anger.
Who cares about history and past?? Do you know what website you’re posting on?? The title kinda gives it away….
Metallica are metals answer to U2 ,who are a fucking great band too, they all deserve success, so what, so what you boring little fuck…
