McKagan Guests With Adler In London
Bassist Duff McKagan joined former Guns N’ Roses bandmate Steven Adler’s band Adler’s Appetite on stage last night (February 28) at the Camden Underworld in London.
McKagan jammed with the drummer’s band on two GN’R songs: My Michelle and It’s So Easy.
“Duff’s appearance absolutely raised the roof,” reports Mark Lacey, Classic Rock‘s man on the spot.
McKagan previously played with Adler’s Appetite in summer 2007 at Hollywood’s Key Club. Fellow ex-GN’R member Izzy Stradlin additionally guested at the show.
McKagan also joined GN’R frontman Axl Rose on stage last autumn at London’s O2 Arena.
No wonder those rumours of a GN’R reunion with the classic line-up won’t go away…
Our man Mark Lacey further reports:
Steven Adler’s Adler’s Appetite made a welcome return to London for the final date of their UK tour. A fresh new line-up, and a resurgence of the sound that we remember from GN’R of old.
The crowd is warm, affectionate, and pleased to see Adler back on his game – but when Steven takes the mic four songs into the set and introduces ‘an old friend’ to the stage – no one could have predicted what was to come next.
Duff McKagan enters from behind the drumkit and hugs Adler. The room explodes. Duff and Steven lead the charge into My Michelle, and the fans are in their element. Duff looks set to leave the stage, but the crowd won’t let him go – and he turns, and launches into the rip-roaring It’s So Easy.
And then as swiftly as he arrived, Duff hugs Adler one more time, and leaves the venue. And the fans are sat pinching themselves… did that really happen?
