Sorum:

Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum is keen to get the VR show back on the road.

Speaking to Music Radar, Sorum has been talking about how the band have come close to deciding on a new frontman on numerous occasions recently but are still yet to find the right man.

“The way I like to put it is, we were ‘dating,’” Sorum laughs. “We had already tried out Spacehog’s Royston Langdon – came close there. Then we tried out a few more people, including this guy from Canada (Gord Prior), but nobody seemed appropriate. Then we found this other dude…”

“This guy felt like he could be the one,” he continued. “So I took him into my studio and recorded his vocals over a bunch of instrumentals we have. Immediately, he blew me away. ‘This is the guy!’ I told myself. I was on top of the world.”

“There was something missing in the swagger department,” Sorum sighs. “His vocals were great, but the attitude, it wasn’t really there, not all the way at least. Plus, I played his recordings for my girlfriend and a couple of friends and I didn’t get the reaction I was hoping for. Nobody went ‘Holy shit, that’s amazing!’ That really sent signals to me that something was wrong”

“We need a singer soon,” Sorum sumarrizes. “We need the right guy in six months. We can’t wait another year. Otherwise, it might not matter.”

Velvet Revolver have been looking for a singer since they fired Scott Weiland on April 1st last year. Recently, Shooter Jennings claimed that he had been offered the job twice and there was also audition tapes that were leaked from Blu Bone’s frontman Gord Prior and Inanna’s Brother frontman Tony Montana.

In other VR related news, Slash is continuing to work on his solo album and you can get all of the details here.

Come on Lads Whitfield Crane is the man for the job! his voice is as good as ever and he suits the sound of VR

VR need Spike from The Quireboys. One of the best frontmen in the game although currently occupied with said Quireboys.

katie hanson

So he played the tracks to his ‘girlfriend’

FFS! Man get a fucking grip!

Play th tracks to the fans and let them decide.

What the fuck does your girlfriend know?

Swagger? You sagged assed fucs are way too old to have any swagger LOL

NEXT!

x

I know I may be derided for this but, is there no chance of a reconciliation with Mr Weiland? I know he’s an ego-maniac and essentially a total rocket of a man but as VR frontman I thought he excelled. His swagger was second to none and his spitting vocals suited the bands style perfectly… Fuck the bullshit, I’m jumping on the “Bring Back Scott” bandwagon (although by the sounds of it I may be the only participent!) lol

Ian Astbury!! ha
