Lynyrd Skynyrd Release New Album Details

The new album from legendary southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will be called God & Guns and released on September 29.

The album, which will be issued on the Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records imprint, features 13 tracks – each of which is said to embody Skynyrd’s classic sound.

It was recorded in Nashville with producer Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Stone Cherry).

The first single from the album, Still Unbroken, is due in July, and will be accompanied by a new video, set to shoot in Nashville next month.

God & Guns marks Skynyrd’s first set of new studio material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle.

Lynyrd Skynyrd will be co-headlining the Rock Rebels Tour this summer across the US with Kid Rock. Before that, the band embark on a short UK beginning May 27. The tour appears to be going ahead despite the recent death of bassist Ean Evans.

everybody knows this is just a tribute band now. in no way does that diminish the epic legacy that is lynyrd skynyrd but let’s be honest here.

I actually disagree with the above. Ok, the glory days went down with the plane but Vicious Cycle was an excellent album – “That’s How We Like It” and “Red, White & Blue” were great tracks that in my opinion added to the bands legacy and proved them a still vital and vibrant band. I applaud bands like Skynyrd and UFO who continue to write and push high quality albums rather than just tread out the well worn classics. Long may it continue…

What a terrible title.

I hope it rocks for there sake and mine,or its over for them Big time

One thing you fail to realize… it’s not about record sales with these guys. They are doing $150 million a year in touring revenue. They don’t have to sell records to remain relevant. They have a fan base who will continue to go and pay for tix, cruises, etc. If they sell 100K records, that will be icing on the cake.

F**K ya’ll It’s better than the new muddle of pud!

As long as the music is there I am behind them but I only wish that they would leave the majority of the pre crash tunes behind. The music with Johnny singing that has been put back in the closet needs to be brought to the front of the set lists.

Although without almost all of the original band now, they still put out good music – in my opinion better than most of the crap played on radio here in Oz anyway. I’ll listen to Gary Rossington play any day and JVZ is a great singer.

Saw Skynyrd on the Gods of Guns UK Tour, only wish they played post Plane crash material. I agree with Euan “Thats how we like it ” and Red White & Blue ” should stand alongside old classics for us new to Skynyrd fans.
Look forward to hearing some new toons from the Southern Boys or Rock

Chasman

long live skynyrd they are still better then any of that crap being played today
