Love/Hate guitarist threatens to sue singer
Founding Love/Hate guitarist Jon E Love has threatened to sue singer Jizzy Pearl over a new album planned for release under the band name.
The axeman is furious that Crucified, set for launch in January, has been recorded without involvement from any original member other than Pearl.
Love says via Facebook: “This is not a Love/Hate record. Jizzy has taken it upon himself to release his solo shit and call it Love/Hate. None of the original members are on it. How do I know this? Because the idiot insulted me when asking me to perform on it.
“Any true Love/Hate fan will immediately know it’s not the real band. Stay tuned – more to follow as I proceed to sue him.”
Pearl, real name Jim Wilkinson, joined Love, Skid Rose and Joey Gold in 1985. The trio had been operating as a band called Dataclan with another singer. The LA hard rock outfit is best remembered for their first two albums, 1990′s Blackout In The Red Room and Wasted In America, released two years later. Pearl memorably had himself crucified on the Hollywood sign to promote the second record.
Love was on speaking terms with the vocalist earlier this year when he spoke warmly of their 2007 reunion and discussed the prospect of working together again. He’s currently recording an album with his band Jon E Love And The Haters.
Pearl has been using the band name since 2002, describing himself as the “sole survivor”. HIs current line-up features Robbie Crane (Ratt), Keri Kelly (Alice Cooper) and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley). They’ll appear at the HRH AOR2 festival at Hafan y Mor Holiday Park, Wales, in March next year, as part of an extensive UK tour. He says of Crucified: “Love/Hate always had great songs and that’s a tradition I intend to keep up with this record.”
