Linkin Park confirmed as Download headliners
Linkin Park have been confirmed as headliners of the second night at next year’s Download Festival – when they’ll perform their album Hybrid Theory in full.
They join Friday show-closers Avenged Sevenfold, who deliver their first-ever UK bill-topping set at Donington, supported by Rob Zombie.
Fall Out Boy will be second-top of the main stage bill on the Saturday.
The 2014 edition of Download takes place on June 13-15, 2014, with the usual litany of hundreds of big-name rock and metal acts, rising stars and other attractions besides.
Chester Bennington and co released Hybrid Theory in 2000, and it spawned hit singles One Step Closer, Crawling, Papercut, and In the End. The album revival underlines frontman Bennington’s commitment to the band, even though he’s doubling up as vocalist for Stone Temple Pilots – who headlined Download in 2010 before firing Scott Weiland earlier this year.
Bennington says: “We’ve been kicking around the idea of playing Hybrid Theory for some time – and Download is the perfect opportunity. The legendary energy of the crowd is the apex of the rock experience, and we’re very excited to share this special night with them.”
Tickets for Download 2014 are available at £10 less than this year’s prices until November 8 via http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/ – weekend arena ticket £150; weekend arena ticket and three-night camping £175; weekend arena ticket and five-night camping £185. After 9am on November 8 those prices rise to £160, £185 and £195 respectively.
