Giving a fresh dimension to Lady Gaga’s summer gigs over here, it’s now been confirmed that not only will The Darkness be supporting but that the opening act will be Lady Starlight. Furthermore, Starlight plans to promote her love of Van der Graaf Generator at the shows…
Starlight, who is a dyed-in-the-wool hard rock and heavy metal fan, will DJ and perform to her favourite tunes at the shows.
A long-time friend and collaborator of Gaga’s, Starlight promises her opening set will be “daring and totally nuts”.
She says: “I’ve shifted focus to include my passion for progressive rock. Notably Peter Hammill and Van der Graaf Generator – both forms of music that don’t typically bring to mind theatrical performance! Developing a new kind of performance that combines many different artistic mediums: music, theatre, dance, fashion and video.
“I aim to challenge expectations of the performer’s role, as I’ve done with DJ’ing. I hope to open minds and inspire people to follow their creative vision no matter how unusual or impossible it may seem. Lady Gaga’s Born This WayBall is the best place to deliver this message. It’s all about inspiration, acceptance and freedom – and rocking out.”
