Krusher's Embassy Club Blog

The one and only DJ Krusher checks in with his weekly blog. Read all about the movings and shakings at this week’s Krusher club night at London’s The Embassy Club every Monday.

Krusher is Classic Rock’s brand new club night at London’s Embassy Club, every Monday night. Featuring reduced drink prices and the very best tunes being spun through the venue’s state of the art sound-system, Monday nights have never rocked harder!

Wiithout further pondering, here’s the man himself with a blow-by-blow account of this week’s action and debauchary!

So after the roaring success of the first week we come to our second week, this is the one where everybody on the guestlist from the first week who promised they’d be down again this week to show their support, do so by staying indoors watching Coronation Street! Death to false arsechickens!!!!

However a very big thank you to everybody who did show up to see live sets from Xphere and Gripshift, both female fronted and both bloody marvellous!!! And as a special thanks for your support I’d like to invite you all back to my place for Christmas dinner, but I can’t as Ma Krusher won’t have any of it!!!

The mighty Rev kicked off the evening with a truly inspired set of classic rock with the odd curveball thrown in just to make sure that everybody was paying attention.

First band to take to the stage were London based Xphere (pronounced Sphere) smacking us between the ears with their grinding, hard hitting, alternative metal. Heavy but with a definite groove.

Xphere is the brainchild of singer, composer and keyboard programmer Billie Sylvain. To re-create their sound live Billie is joined on stage by a live guitarist Andy, bassist Mark and drummer Tim. They deliver a perfect 30 minutes set ending with the stirring ‘Intellectual Savage’, check them out at the Xphere Myspace page.

The second set of the night was like a 20lb sledgehammer to the naughty bits and came from Bristol based Gripshift who mixed their own songs such as ‘Settle The Score’, ‘The Ties That Bound’ and ‘Scratch The Skin’ with some mighty impressive covers including Dio’s ‘Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll’, Priest’s ‘Nightcrawler’ and a blistering version of Sabbath’s ‘Heaven And Hell’, again please check them out at their official site.

After Gripshift I dribbled over the death-decks until I was ankle deep in the stuff and all in all had another great night rockin’ hard, heavy and animal.

Sadly I have to inform you that Classic Rock Powerage signing Lethargy won’t be playing next week, but I hope to get them down later in the year along with the uncompromising Viking Skull.

On the 23rd March, Raw Glory will be playing, featuring former Heavy Metal Kid guitarist Cosmo and former Gillan drumming powerhouse Mick Underwood, along with bassist Ronnie Garrity and vocalist Paul Manzi, whom Cosmo describes as “a mixture of Plant, Gillan and Paul Rodgers all rolled into one.” ’Nuff said!

March 30th, we have A.W.E, which is Laurence Archer (former guitarist with UFO, Phil Lynott’s Grand Slam and the soon to be reformed Stampede), bassist Paul Williams (who’s played with blues legend John Mayall) and former Pat Travers and UFO drummer, Clive Edwards.

Until next time, may the stealth of the nipple-donkey always be with you!

How old are you? 50? 60? Why write like an excited 15 year old. You are better than this.

KRusher Joule

I’m 54 almost 55 and I still AM 15 years old, oh yeah and I’m excited!!! I’m never better, I’m never worse, I am what I am and I don’t really think you can tell me what to be! Much love Frumious! Did your parents call you that or did your imaginative YOUNG mind have anything to dowith it?
By the way I used to call myself Stephen in the school yard!
But NOW I’m Stephen George Falkoner Fooookpig Krusher Joule! Emperic keeper of Innocenti III kreature of Imperic Arsechickens!!!! Ya Ya Ya Ya Yaaaaaaa!!

What kind of twat spends the time of day putting a shitty comment like that??? It reads to me as if ‘Frumious Bundersnatch’ is the only 15 year old here!

Get off his back FB. This man is a metal legend. Who the hell are you?

Pippa Lang

You guys beat me to it! I got so indignant reading this twat’s so-called ‘opinion’ of our lovely, cuddly, legendary Krusher that I’ve been trying to compose something really prolific ever since…but it was turning into an essay!!

Point is, this ‘FB’ has obviously been living in a cave all his life if he’s never heard of Krusher before – because anyone who knows Krusher lurves Krusher for his eternally cheerful, jolly diatribes that makes people laugh…

And in these ‘orrible days of recession, we all need a good laugh – so piss off you miserable bastard, or try getting into Krusher’s inimitable WIT, you might actually find yourself enjoying him.

Love ya Krusher

I am very familiar with Krusher’s work Which is why I find all this ‘Death to false arse chickens’ stuff a bit depressing. It’s a tough gig, though, isn’t it: maintaining the rock’n'roll image when Father Time is busy doing his worst. For all of us, I guess. Just can’t get on with the silly Krusher voice – I never have – and I hear it rasping away on the printed page. It makes me feel sad because I wonder what happens after the metal and the mayhem and the arse chickens stop. Does Krusher order a pizza in that voice? Does he say ‘thanks’ in that voice when the guy in the seven-eleven hands him his change? But, fair enough, I know I am in the minority here.
