Jovi Fans Hit Out At The Price Of A Folding Chair!

mdome / News / 03/11/2009 17:26pm

Bon Jovi fans are unhappy with what they believe to be extortionate ticket prices for the band’s run of shows at the O2 Arena in London next June.

Just so you know, the standard ticket prices range from £45 to £200.

But the really silly money comes with what are being called ‘Premium Ticket Packages’, which include a guaranteed front row seat, plus such glorious items as a Jon Bon Jovi folding chair which you then take home, dinner backstage – and anyone who’s ever enjoyed the catering experience backstage will tell you how delightful that can be! – and a tour of the backstage area (while trying to avoid irate roadies pushing flight cases).

All of that plus, to be fair, a load of other goodies will set you back… £1,300.

Writing on the band’s official forum, one fan commented: “I am going to stand up for what I believe in and use my earnings to feed my kids rather than lining some fat cat’s pockets.”

Another pointed out: “After writing an album about the world’s problems with the recession the prices are just a mockery.”

However, despite this backlash, tickets are selling so well that two more dates have now been confirmed, on June 22 and 23. That’s 10 nights in all so far, with more possibly to be added.

Speaking as the fan that made that comment, I wanted to highlight that the media seem to be focussing on the top flight tickets, but fans are also up in arms about the price of standard tickets. A couple of years back, £150 got me two Gold Circle tickets and an amazing view at the Jovi gig. Now I am being asked for £200 plus booking fee for a seat halfway down the arena, nowhere near the band. Add another ticket, and you are looking at £500 for a regular seat. The cheaper seats for £45 are somewhere near the roof and not for those with vertigo, according to the O2, which means those unfortunate fans are required to fork out extra so they actually enjoy the gig…

If you don’t like it then don’t go…… if no-one brought these tickets then they wouldn’t be for sale at this price. Bon Jovi are just a bunch of has-beens going through the motions anyway and have been doing so for years. Why? Because they can……and we let them do it. Don’t go to the O2 and don’t buy the records and they might just do the decent thing….

Well don`t pay it then.

I saw Con Jovi last Friday for £9. They were fantastic. 2 hours of hit after hit.

I’ll see them again on 29 Jan at the Walthamstow Standard in London.

See you all there.

£200 ? Who says JBJ not got a sense of humour ?

What a waste of money!
Bunch of posers who have rehashed the same dreary formula since the 80’s.

I had access to pre-sale and the best tickets were £215 inc. fees.
Even Zeppelin and Springsteen were cheaper than that and they are LEGENDS!!
The best groups of today (Muse, KOL) only charge £40.00
How Jon Bon Jovi can approve of these prices beggars belief…DISGUSTING!!

Bunch of big girls blouses ! who remembers the good old days when a ticket for AC/DC ( Bon Scott era ) , UFO , Thin Lizzy , Wishbone Ash etc , etc cost 2 pounds fifty , a pint was 35p , fish and chips 45p . Jesus I must be gettin´old ! but , I still wouldn´t pay that kinda money for a bunch of the Bon Jovi´s !!

As someone who has bought tickets, yes, two hundred quid is a big come on. But £45 (£53.75, including booking/postage con) has got me row A seats upstairs which are fine. You pays your money…

….’Work For The Working Man’ on the new album….who’s he trying to kid??? Bon Jovi have become a sad joke, and i used to love ‘em….never mind ticket prices cos you just don’t have to pay ‘em, it’s that easy….most pathetic thing i’ve seen recently??? Bon Jovi on x factor…and they played the new single minus the guitar solo….laughable…

This is not the icing of the cake on the story. Loyal long-term Bon Jovi fans are ripped-off, this is a very sad happening for the loyal fans around the globe! I am one of them, I have been a fan for 17 years, I have loved this band no matter what, it was part of my life, I have seen almost 50 shows but this time I am saying NO! It is ridiculous to sell tickets for the first rows at London’s O2 for 700 USD (inner circle). The Paris show is 170 Euros (inner circle) including a 45 USD “convenience surcharge” the official so-called fanclub is asking fans to pay per ticket besides a membership fee of at least USD 50. Tickets in the inner circle to U.S. shows (tickets only, no VIP package) are about 400 USD within the first like 8 rows. I was in that section in 2008 for a U.S. show and paid 132 USD for that one, also obtaining the ticket from the fanclub. The surcharge is over 70 USD! That’s triple the price! It is pathetic, I’d be ashamed! Work for the working man…yeah right. At least we all know that Bon Jovi do not play for the working men and women of this world but prefer having celebs in their front rows who do not know any line to any song but at least have the big bucks.

I don’t get it! It’s expensive but the tickets are selling well.

I think this is the best album in a very long time and Bon Jovi is locking the fans out (the ones who are struggling financillay at the moment and could do with a bit of cheering up). I’d like to know who are the people who are paying the prices for the VIP packagages and all that lot. Are they fools using their credit cards and getting into debt or are there so many wealthy people out there to fill so many shows?

I love Bon Jovi and would love to meet the band but I wouldn’t even pay that kind of money to be able to shake hands, let alone for a party and a tour of backstage. PLEASE. (And I have been on stage with them FOR FREE years and years ago…I won a contest, that was all).

You said it Kat! My group is saying “NO” too!

I am so tired of hearing Bon Jovi fans unhappy, revolt, whatever! The handful of unhappy fans is a very small percentage of the total base. As a Bon Jovi fan, I am happy to be seeing them in concert, no matter where I have to sit. No one is forcing you to buy the expensive tickets. So you can’t sit in the first few rows, suck it up this tour. Maybe things will be better for you next tour. Start saving now if it’s that important to you to look up Jon’s nostrils. Give me a flippin’ break already.

Why don’t I hear the same complaints about high prices of other concerts, Rolling Stones charged double the price I just paid for better Bon Jovi tickets.

I remember seeing them back in ‘93 when they were touring for Keep The Faith, for 32 fucking dollars CAD, in St, John’s, NL – it was awesome! They had never been there prior to that. Then, they showed in the summer of ‘95 while touring for “These Days” in Grand Falls, NL along with a bunch of other bands – for about the same price – awesome again!! Of course they only did this because they were desperate for ticket sales and playing in places where they were too cool to play before. But once they stablized their ticket sales and regained their popularity again, they never did come back. Fast forward to present. I am now living in Calgary and they will be here during the Calgary Stampede – and the tickets will range from 49.50 to 169.50 CAD and you don’t even get anything extra for the higher prices! Hahaha!! What a fucking rip-off! They haven’t put out any decent music since “These Days”. Their music has simply sucked balls since then. I would go only to hear them play the classics, but they can’t play those anymore. Jon fucked up his voice in the early days and just can’t belt it out like he used to and the band just doesn’t play as heavy as they used to. They are a mockery of their former selves. Besides that, Jon has become a sad poser. Looking at the youtube videos, all he seems to do is just shake his aging ass for his aging female fans. The band has more money than they can ever spend, so why do they charge their fans so much? If I were a musician and I reached that level of financial security, there is no way I could continue to charge loyal fans more and more. Anyway, fools and their 169.50 will soon be parted.

The tickets are way over priced. But still its Bon Jovi. Granted the prices do alienate Bon Jovi’s real fans. But every time I’ve seen the gang it’s been an unforgettable night! I may not be able to get into the front row to see Bon Jovi but I will definitely be there! By the way I found this site that’s got cheaper tickets.
