Journey To Play Download
It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – Bay Area AOR legends Journey have been added to the Download festival bill.
Several other top bands have also confirmed for Download 2009. Read on to find out who!
Fresh off the back of his new album Scream, US rocker Chris Cornell will make his solo Download debut, although he played with ex-band Audioslave in 2003.
Returning for the second time will be southern groove metallers Down, in what is to be their first UK show this year, following some shows in 2008.
US nu-metallers Papa Roach have also been added, coming back for their second Download.
Skin – featuring Right Said Fred guitarist Myke Gray (aka Maurice White, aka Little Steevi Foxx) – are re-forming especially to play Download, back together after a 12-year hiatus, marking their second performance at Donington since playing Monsters of Rock in 1994.
Journey will be joined by fellow Californians Tesla.
Also added to the bill are Italian goth-rockers Lacuna Coil, Kentucky bluesmen Black Stone Cherry, Clutch plus Architects, Karma To Burn and Parkway Drive.
Download takes place June 12-14 at Donington Park.
Tickets are on sale now from www.downloadfestival.co.uk.

Time for CR to do some investigative work and find out if all classic rock bands will be appearing on Sunday or are they spread out over weekend. Latest Download poster would indicate Motley Crue are headlining second stage on Friday? Come on CR, find out for me if I have to wait until day tickets go on sale or do I have to save my pennies for a weekend ticket?
Def Leppard, ZZ Top, Whitesnake,Motley Crue, Buckcherry and now Journey? At Download? I might need to go to this…..
Why is this not a Classic Rock sponsored Monsters of Rock line up though? The last one in 2006 at MK Bowl was great – only let down by timing (too near download in calendar) and headliner (Purple were good but not brilliant) This would be a magic line up for MOR
Insane. I’m looking forward to seeing Journey while the sun shines…and the sun WILL shine. Talking ‘bout aviator shades, white Ratz Ass t-shirt and flares..no shoes.
The sunday line up is starting to look tasty. My ticket has been purchased.
Just put on some Magnum as i’m that jazzed.
So finally there will be REAL ROCK at download this year.
Perhaps the jokes are finished(numetal-grunge-alternative-punk-emo-crossover etc…)and the REAL THING is arrived.
