Neal Schon’s pay-per-view wedding
Journey guitarist Neal Schon’s upcoming wedding to a TV reality star will be broadcast life on pay-per-view TV.
It’s thought to be the first event of its kind and takes place in San Francisco on December 15, when Schon and Michaele Salahi tie the knot ahead of a Journey concert. They’ve entitled it The Winter Wonderland Wedding And Music Event.
The couple have even pledged to donate some of the proceeds to victims of the Philippines typhoon – almost certainly at the bidding of vocalist Arnel Pineda, who’s been playing a major role in the aid campaign.
Salahi and her ex-husband Tareq made headlines in 2009 when they gatecrashed a White House party. Two years later he reported her missing from their home, and she turned up in the company of former ex-boyfriend Schon, saying she was with him of her own free will. That resulted in a $50m lawsuit which was settled out of court.
But for the guitarist, who proposed on stage last year, it’s true love. In 2011 he explained: “She takes off her wedding ring right in front of Tareq, and proceeds to come into my dressing room where I’m sitting down. She looks down at me like she’s standing on stilts and says, ‘I love you, and that’s never going to change.’ And when that happened I said, ‘Get over here – this has taken 15 years.’”
Schon was believed to have married partner Ava Fabian two months before running away with Salahi.
