Jordison says Slipknot have plenty in the bank
Joey Jordison says Slipknot have been banking new material and will be bringing it to the fore – when the time is right.
It has been five years since any new material emerged from the band but the drummer, who shares duties on drums with Slipknot and Scar The Martyr, promises fans he is always ready for Slipknot.
Speaking to Stereoboard.com he says: “What I can say is that there is Slipknot material. We’re writing right now, and we’re all in talks.
“I have got Scar The Martyr going on now and I’m making sure it’s gonna get the attention it deserves, but at the same time, I’m always ready for Slipknot too. I’ve got so much Slipknot material, I started writing this a long time ago. Y’know, when the time is right. Everyone works at their own pace and I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, I just kinda put myself in the mindset where I’m writing for a certain project.
” I kinda just take myself to that place, get in that mindset. When the time is right. I think he (Slipknot singer Corey Taylor) was referring to that old saying: time flies. If you don’t stop and look around, then you’re gonna miss it.”
Scar The Martyr have just released their debut album and Jordison reveals it is his love of music which fuels his non-stop involvement in Slipknot, and other side projects.
He adds: “It’s a passion of mine, and y’know, I’ve just been sitting here in the back lounge humming riffs to new songs. My phone is filled with riffs. Y’know, I listen to all this stuff and go back to it. I sound like a moron, just listening to myself humming all these riffs, but it’s just so I don’t forget ‘em!
“Then I sit there and I translate them onto guitar. I’ve got so much material, like it feels as if every day I’m coming up with so many riffs. And even if it doesn’t end up working, I can still use it for something else or save it for something else. I’m constantly writing music and keeping myself busy somehow.”
