Jon Bon Jovi ‘A Knob’ – Official
Jon Bon Jovi has upset The Sun newspaper.
Gordon Smart, who edits The Sun’s Bizarre column, writes this morning:
‘I was excited talking to Jon Bon Jovi yesterday as his band have sold more than 120 million records. So I was gutted to find he’s a knob.
‘I was later told I upset him by not calling his dates at London’s O2 next summer a “residency”. It seems that’s what aides must call them.’
As you might’ve gathered from the above, Bon Jovi have announced five shows for next year at the O2 Arena in London.
These happen on June 7, 8, 10, 11 and 13. Tickets will go on sale from 9am on October 30. The O2 shows are expected to be the band’s only European dates next year.
Bon Jovi’s new album The Circle is released on November 2, with the official book When We Were Beautiful following a day later. And on November 23, the band issue a live DVD filmed at Madison Square Garden in July this year.

Stuff Bon Jovi. Support your local venues. There are loads of bands touring smaller venues, go and see them. Why should we go and worship at his feet. We get ripped off with ticket prices, deluxe CD issues just months after the original and now bands announce ‘a tour’ where it’s us that has to travel not them. Corporate rock sucks!
I thinking calling him a Knob is far too kind.
Assuming the story is true (big assumption!) I can’t say that there summary is too far wide of the mark. I had the impression Bon Jovi were playing there for at least a week or two based on yesterday’s press reports! Still, they could play there all year and I still wouldn’t go.
Here’s the quote I saw: “The band will be spending the whole summer at the venue”. I know we moan about british summers being short, but I’m definitely holidaying abroad next year if we know now it’s only 5 days!!!!
Heard their new single and it is bland, boring and music by numbers. Time for the Jovi boys to go their seperate ways methinks.
Richie could probably knock out a better solo album anyway
too harsh good band but jon can b a cock, new single good not great, sorry they aint edgy and navel gazey, but i like em always have except for bounce which wa an utter shit sandwich
i don’t even know why you report on this guy Classic Rock, other than to piss me off.
@Blythie: The LATEST single is bland, boring and music by numbers? Are you new to Bon Jovi?
lots of negative comments today, i think the new song is great and a good return to the rocky side of the band i love, it is a shame they are playing all there gigs in london tho as i live in lancashire and its too far and costly for me to go,i’v seen the band live 3 times and they are one of the best so i will miss them not coming up north, hope the album is as good as the single, tho i’d like to here another jon bon jovi solo record again the other 2 were so different it would be interesting to hear what else he has up his sleeve, maybe they will come round in 2011 and play up morth you never know rock on guys!!
I thought “residency” was for washed up MOR acts.
Have seen Jovi many times over the years but they lost me this time. Those ticket prices are nothing short of bloody extortionate!!!!
Who cares what some dick from the Sun says?
He’s probably pissed off that he hasn’t got free tickets.
I was born exactly the same day as JBJ – 2nd March ‘62 and used to think – what if I had been him and he was me, then I thought “what a knob I am for thinking that”. Glad to see he is just the same, haha
right…sigh..ive liked em since a wee spotty teenager,d yes there have been blips, bounce and left feels right(wanky).but bon jovi are a great hard rock band.Yes they aint noodly, they aint navel gazey and they sell millions which has always been a bit of a no winner with some rock fans,What they do is write great 3 min catchy pop rock, the chorus sticks in ya head and what they do,they do very well.Ill grant you Jon can be a tosser and yes hell never be Springsteen as much as he tries, and yes Richie is the better singer, but for us fans they do the job,and just in case i also love zeppelin, floyd, muse, metallica, acdc and drive by truckers to name a few.And lets be honest David Bryants perm is a thing of beauty.
I’m under pressure to bring my Wife over from Austrlia for a show. And we only saw them last year in Sydney. Bon Jovi will always be a band that will divide opinion but that why we love music and defend our faves to the death.
Bon Jovi is the greatest band in the world. I feel sorry for all you people who think otherwise. You obviously don’t know good music when you hear it. As for their new album. The songs (all of them) are dynamic. As for Gordon Smart, you are the knob. While you sit behind your desk and criticize, Bon Jovi makes music. Would you care to try? I don’t think so. When you have sold over 120 000 000 then you can begin calling them names, until then, shut up!
Great though they are live £200 is taking the mick – especially when the US shows are $150.
Sure they will be doing the stadiums in 2011, I can wait (mind you, if the prices are similar then, they can shove it)
Lets face it anyone who has been in the public eye be it bands, actors etc for so long are bound to lose sight of what we deal with on a day to day bases.
Its not wether your into the music or you think Jon is a “knob” or you would die for the band, it’s about respect for your fans that is at issue.
This is not first time that accusations of money grabbing have been aimed at Bon Jovi anyone remeber Skid Rows shameful treatment at thier hands many years ago.
A reply with regards to the 1000’s of comments about the high cost of the tickets from the band themselves would be nice.
Maybe some cut down shows with less pyros and blowup crap in small venues would give something back to the fans that have put them were they are today.
We all know the dates will sell out so why should they give a stuff, I for one hope they are still like all of us rock fans who care about one another.

When i first heard that bon jovi were coming to the uk again i have to admit i waanted tickets but after checking the price what d$cks, talk about doing it for the fans what do they want next our blood!, as much as i love bon jovi’s music i’m not paying two hundred pounds for a ticket and also if you actually want meet them, if they are actually there, you have to pay 1,500 pounds for the aftershow!!!! you can meet the barcelona football team for 80 euro’s.
