John Squire Says No To Stone Roses Reunion

Despite tabloid rumours to the contrary, John Squire has denied that the Stone Roses will be reuniting any time soon in typically emphatic fashion.

John Squire has categorically denied that the Stone Roses will be reforming by posting a damning bit of artwork online.

The picture is of the inside of a flattened-out cardboard box with “I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses 18.03.09″ photoshopped onto it. See the pic here.

Would you be interested in a new Stone Roses tour? Would they still cut it in 2009?

Well lets be grateful for small mercies ! I think the UK are starting to get a little tired of bands reforming for the cash and then going off again.

This was a small movement based around a year of drugs and hippy trippy nostalgia and doesn’t have much relevence today.

There I feel better now

Being an open minded sort of lad I’ve tried, really really tried, to get into their 1st album that quite a few folk of that generation have told me is a classic. Despite all that effort I was sorry to conclude that the Stone Roses were shite, plain and simple. I guess you had to be there and into it. And they inspired Oasis apparently. If that isn’t damning I don’t know what is…………

John Squire’s Seahorses album is a blinder though

For all us classic rock fans, the second album is the closest you’ll get to a rock album from them. Page influenced throughout, Its actually got some great moments on it. Unfortunately its the album that divided the shoegazing, smiley baggy pre-brit pop culture. All the musos loved it but all the pill heads and Smiths fans hated it. For me the first album is piss poor (yeah yeah I know its seen as a classic) with its Byrd-esque jingly jangly guitars that and whiny thin sounding production it truely belongs in the indie bin, not on a classic rock site.
