Joe Perry: Search For New Aerosmith Singer Is On!
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has revealed the band have drawn up a short list of potential replacements for Steven Tyler.
Talking to CNN, Perry said:
“We have a short list and are talking to a lot of people… But I found the singer for my band [The Joe Perry Project] on YouTube, so there’s no reason why we can’t do the same.”
Perry also encouraged singers to send in CDs, videos, etc. to the band’s management.

I loved Aerosmith when I was a kid…they were one of my favourite bands. First they pooched their legacy in the 90’s with their video drivel and now this?
Put it to bed and do the JPP thing or whatever else, Joe, but (like it or not) Aerosmith doesn’t exist without Steven Tyler.
YEAH CAN IT… form a new band dont wreck it anymore than you have already. in fact join waysted fucking great band.
aerosmith should throw in the towel if steven is not going to play with them. another singer ? you guys have got to be fucking kidding !!!! right ? any loyal aerosmith fan would not go for this. steven is not replaceable !!! stick to your solo project joe !!! when steven is ready he will be back. you guys cant be hurting for money that bad that you have to run the great aerosmith name into the ground with another singer !!! i can see an aerosmith cover band at the local bar !!! NO TYLER NO SMITH !!!
Aerosmith were a great band but don’t kill it with getting a new singer, if you boys wanna play so bad start other bands, make new music… go hard with the Joe Perry Project.

Shame as they are about to mark their 40th Anniversary but this would probably be the best thing for all concerned.

This sounds like a really bad plan!!! To put it simply; there is no Aerosmith without Steve!!!
Both Perry and Whitford jumped ship in the 80’s, and the band carried on. Just keep holding your breath for a huge reunion tour when Tyler puts his toys back in the pram.

I am a big steven tyler fan and i will not support anything aerosmith does without him.I would not blame steven at all if he never plays with the band again after they have talked about him like a dog to the press.i guess they have forgotten how much money they have made with him for years.let them find another singer to complain about to the press.If they fail with a new singer, they can play to clubs of 300 people a night.It would serve them right.
Forget Aerosmith without steven tyler.I would support steven but not the other four.I don’t approve of the way they talk about him in interviews.
