In fairnes KISS are self confessed sell-outs. Gene especially craves mainstream fame. I thought overall they were very good – I just wish our mainstream reality tv featured a little more KISS and a lot less Take That…

I’m fed up with the lack of rock exposure these shows usually provide – its always Take that or westlife covers, that song “Smile, big band rubbish or “lets murder versions of classic pop acts like Jackson or the bee Gees”

A large section of the music buying public like rock music (even if Cowell generally doesn’t)

there should be more of this going on – the American know how to appreciate their rock music

I’ll type this quietly, I think Take Thathave some great songs. There said it now.

Americam idol has ended up like an American Bandstand and controls a major element of the american music scene. It would be great to see more rock songs performed. But the fact is that with American Idol; there is not much visibility in rock. the new live acts are not paying their dues and promoting their songs. Going to radio stations, working the college market, local rags…Arguably all they do are massive festivals every now and then. That’s not enough. Bands like Pearl Jam turned their back on leading the charge and other bands just broke up. ColdPlay, The Killers, Nickelback and Jack White are ironically the ones that act like rock bands it seems.

Woah!! Kiss have their first record in 11 years coming out later this year.

Sure AI is a pile of poo but Kiss rocked the joint, proved they’re still relevant and performed on one of the biggest shows in the US opening themselves up to a massive new audience.

Let’s face it, in my experience most of the people that tell me “Kiss are crap” or “AC/DC are shit” are idiots that have never listened to the music. They have simply cottened on to an image of ‘Heavy Metal’ being a tuneless racket. The fact is that Beth or Everytime I Look At You could be No.1 hits for Westlife, and if McFly had written/recorded You Shook Me All Night Long it would be sung on Karaoke up and down the country.

It’s about time ‘our’ bands re-exposed themselves to the public. I can only imagine the reaction of kids across America on seeing Gene in full demon make-up! It was probably much the same as the reaction their parents had in the 70’s. I hope Kiss see a big jump in their CD sales (if anyone still buys them?) as a result.

I’ve only seen a quick clip on Youtube but the Sky+ is set to record it tonight. I don’t have a problem with them going on there. I’m a huge KISS fan & can’t stand reality/talent shows but it’s no secret that KISS are the biggest whores in the biz so is anyone surprised? Nope. I’d rather see them doing this & get the exposure than do a repeat performance of the Winter Olympics from a few years back. Now THAT was embarrasing.

Kiss was great , seems idol is running out of ideas , not the show it used to be.

KISS saved the Freaking show… they Rocked and that is it… Lucky guy that Lambert.
KISS is not a sell-out… they sell what ever they want and you’ll buy it…as a matter of fact, they own the market .

Well if this gives exposure of classic rock to a new audience I say that can only be a good thing. I think America is warming more to rock, Australia appear to as well as KISS appeared on Rove Live a few years ago. I just wish prime time shows here in the UK gave more coverage, the like of Jonathan Ross should get people like AC/DC on their shows.

All exposure is good exposure – Kiss are a corporation and will do as it pleases – Lambert is a pretty good frontman and i think he could do a job for Queen now PR has left.

We should move on from this snobbishness of bands selling out and going on popuplist programmes –

They all do it be it commercials,promoting guitars,setting up clothing labels,getting songs on to Guitar Hero/Rockband etc

When you see the other acts that appear on american idol it’s a bit much to single kiss out,everyone wants to get involved with the show.If it’s good enough for santana,it’s more than good enough for kiss(who oddly seemed to be singing live,but miming playing their instruments?)

I think Adam Lambert ROCKSSSS. He is INCREDIBLY talented, one of the most brilliant singers I have ever seen. Oh boy does he drive me wildddd

Absolutely nothing and no one could’ve gotten me to watch AI except KISS!!
Thank God for YouTube!! I loved the performance and Adam has a new fan in me! (I still don’t watch AI, but I thank them for the treat!!)
