Is Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Back On The Sauce Again?
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has allegedly fallen off the wagon. His recent tumble from the stage and subsequent injuries were the result of heavy drinking, it is being claimed. The frontman has apparently become “a liability” – and the rest of Aerosmith are going on strike until he recovers.
Sources close to the Boston band have revealed Tyler was “partying hard” before he lost his footing [during an Aerosmith show at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota] and wound up with a broken shoulder.
Since then, his bandmates haven’t heard directly from him, and are instead receiving daily email updates from his management – a separate entity from Aerosmith’s management.
A band employee tells the Boston Herald: “Truthfully, he’s a liability for the band. He’s uninsurable because of all the accidents and cancelled dates.”
The remaining members of Aerosmith – Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer – are understood to have suspended work on their upcoming album after a video and photos of Tyler appeared on the web, showing a gaunt, wasted figure buying alcohol in a liquor store.
The above photo of Tyler comes from the Boston Herald; you can watch YouTube footage of Tyler in the liquor store here.
The source continues: “All of this didn’t happen overnight. The fall was just the final straw. Everyone is very worried about him.”
Rumours within the extended Aerosmith family suggest that Tyler is surrounded by people who “think they’re going to cash in on the guy”.
