Iron Maiden Post New Video
Iron Maiden have just posted up the Director’s Cut video for the title track of new album The Final Frontier.
The full title of the song is Satellite 15…The Final Frontier, and the video was produced by Darkside Animation. Some of the filming was done in the Rendlesham Forest in the south of England, renowned because of a series of reported incidents of unexplained lights and even the landing of an alleged UFO. Spooky!
The album is released on August 16, and will come in a Limited Edition Collectors ‘Mission Edition’ CD case. This version includes access to extra bonus content, including the Director’s Cut of this new video, filmed band ‘Mission Debrief’ interview footage, wallpapers, photos and the exclusive game Mission II : Rescue & Revenge.
Maiden are for the first time making the album available as an iTunes LP with bonus content as well as the traditional digital format. There will also be a Limited Edition Double Picture Disc.
Oh, by the way, you can see the new video right now at www.ironmaiden.com
Don’t forget, Maiden are headlining the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth Park on August 1.

What a boring, crap song. I mean, repeating “The Final Frontier” four times doesn’t make it much of a chorus.
Bloody hell, Rendlesham Forest, just down the road from me!!!
Oh dear this really is awful.Maiden ran out of ideas many years ago.

And you made your millions in music with which band??
What chorus would you have written?
Maiden went downhill after “Powerslave” and judging from “El Dorado” and “The Final Frontier”, it seems very unlikely that the new album will bring any change into that situation.
Hmmm . . . After hearing two songs from the new album, I’m a little worried. This could be their weakest record for quite some time.
Really enjoyed the last 3 albums with the ‘new’ line-up, but based on the two new songs, I think the steam may have ran out. Seem pretty bland. Hope I’m wrong though, awesome live band and can’t deny they’re already legends!
I don’t think there is anything wrong with Gary’s assertion over repetitive choruses. Ever since Virtual XI Maiden have, in my opinion, had a problem with this. The Angel & The Gambler was the prime example on that CD, but Lightening Strikes Twice & Don’t Talk To Strangers, also had a fair amount of repetition in them as well. Seems to have become a recurring theme through the three re-union albums.
Just because Gary hasn’t sold millions of records doesn’t mean he can’t have an opinion, good or bad, on how he thinks a song is.
As it is I haven’t as such heard this song, going to wait until I get the CD in order to listen to it. I’ve enjoyed pretty much all Maiden’s albums, so am sure I’ll get something out of this one, even if it turns out not to be the best they’ve ever released.
So there’s been a couple of comments to my post. To razor: Isn’t it funny when I critizise a film, nobody asks “how many millions have you made by directing/producing a film?” I mean it was an opinion. I have been listening to rock music for about 30 years and I know some simple rules of a bad chorus. E.g. don’t just repeat a word/sentence many times. I mean how hard is it to write something else? It really worries me, these two songs they have released now are propably the best songs on the album. And I can say “Dance Of Death” was crap, “A Matter Of Life And Death” was rather good.
maiden on top of the bill once again
Well i think it’s bloody good . . . . . the most repetative chorus of all time must be ‘ Killing in the name of ‘. . . . . . and that’s an all time classic ! Stop bloody moaning and enjoy !
@ Gary
You do have a very good point, but repetition is very common in many of Iron Maiden songs, some of which are considered to be some of their best work. The chorus “Brave New World” was extremely repetitive, and there were fewer key changes, but I’ve still heard people cite it as one of their all-time favourites. There are also tracks like “The Evil That Men Do” and “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son”, both having just one-sentence choruses. “For the Greater Good of God” was very repetitive, but it was still possibly the best track on “A Matter of Life and Death”. “Afraid to Shoot Strangers” repeats the four words of the title over and over towards the end of the song. “No More Lies” is repetitive, “Lightning Strikes Twice” is repetitive, and even “Run to the Hills” is a little repetitive (but to a lesser degree).
You’re fully entitled to your opinion, and I’m not going to try and change it because even I would much rather a more interesting chorus in “The Final Frontier” (as well as some more interesting choruses in many other Maiden tunes), but all I’m saying is that it’s nothing new and it’s not an issue on this song exclusively.
Oh stop moaning you lot, there’s nothing wrong with it. A perfectly decent song that sounds like Iron Maiden and no one else. What were you expecting Beethoven’s 10th?
Maiden are over, even the Blaze albums were better than this.
I was too busy watching the video to pay much attention to the song, and it really shouldn’t be like that. Quite enjoyed it when I listened again.
Haha, reading these comments makes me laugh. This is a SICK song. You all need to shut the fuck up, Maiden are the greatest metal band in history bar none.
