Iron Maiden Announce Huge New Shows

Iron Maiden have announced a series of huge Brazillian shows for the 4th and final leg of their ‘Somewhere In Time’ tour that includes a show at Interlagos – the venue of the Brazillian Grand Prix.
Dates are:
March 12th – Manaus Sambódromo
March 14th – Rio de Janeiro Apoteose
March 15th – São Paulo Autódromo de Interlagos
March 18th – Recife Estádio Municipal
March 20th – Brasília Brasília Camping

Speaking about these very special ‘Maiden dates, Steve Harris has said: “It’s no secret that we love playing Brazil!! So when the opportunity arose to go back on this final leg of the tour to play to the fantastic audiences there we jumped at the chance. We also really wanted to visit some new places so are very excited to be playing in Recife, Manaus and Brasilia for the first time, along with returning to Rio.

“We are amazed and proud to be invited to play at Interlagos and l am sure, given how special the venue is, this will be a show to remember. As it is such a huge concert and as we are returning so quickly to Sao Paulo we thought our loyal fans there deserved something even more special so this time we are arranging the full experience, the full show, the same as our fans saw in Europe and North America. The plane of course will be packed with band, crew and equipment again – but for this huge concert we are specially arranging to freight in everything else we can’t fit into the plane, including the giant mummy Eddie, hyenas, cats, some more and different backdrops and the devil himself, plus loads of pyro!

“We are also, especially for all these shows, going to change the order and some of the songs in the set, with other songs largely from the first four albums as we didn’t get to play Brazil on the Early Days Tour a few years ago and think the fans would like to hear them. This tour is likely to be the final time we play many of these songs live so we really will be giving it everything we have got.”

Bruce Dickinson adds: “This unique way of touring earlier this year with everyone and all our gear on the plane helped to make 2008 easily one of the most successful, exciting and fun years in the band’s career. Taking Ed Force One around the planet and playing to our fans in so many different countries was an incredible experience for all of us. I personally found flying and performing one of the most challenging and satisfying things I’ve ever done despite the rigours and all the logistical difficulties we encountered.

In fact it was so much fun we decided to do it again as a final leg of this tour. We all feel very honoured to be asked back to play again in Brazil so quickly and will give our fans there an even wilder night out, if that’s possible!

All in all this will be a fantastic way to round off a tremendous year for the band before we take a bit of time off and then start work on a new studio album.”
