INXS Dump Lead Singer J.D. Fortune
J.D. Fortune, the vocalist picked by INXS following their VH1 ‘Rockstar: INXS’ show, has spoken of how the band simply dumped him at the end of their most recent world tour.
It was the ultimate in rags-to-riches stories for INXS vocalist, J.D. Fortune. He rose from living in his car to superstardom as INXS’s new vocalist on reality TV show ‘Rockstar: INXS’ but as with so many of these situations, J.D. is right back where he started.
Speaking to Canada’s Entertainment Tonight, Fortune has said: “I was in an airport (in) Hong Kong and literally got a handshake. They said, ‘Thank you very much.’ I found myself really alone because I had traveled with these guys for 23 months. I don’t know where I am going from sofa to sofa, from night to night. I am trying to get through my life.”
However, Fortune may have been the cause of his own downfall when he admits that he developed a massive cocaine problem while with the band.
“It got as bad as it needed to be for me to numb out the fact that I knew this was going to come to a screeching halt,” Fortune summarised.
Fortune said he was now back living out of his car and had spent all his remaining money on recording a solo album.
Given what happened to Hutchence wouldn’t it have been smart to stay off the coke?

The guy basically won a tv talent contest. Get over it, JD. You had your 15 minutes, the rest of the guys made their money, now go away!!!
shame…thought he fitted in well, and the album was pretty good too……if it was due to coke, they didnt give him much support considering he was thrust into the spotlight and had huge expectation on his shoulders
INXS are asshole’s, they decided to recruit a new vocalist that way, Hutchence was a rock star the rest of that band look like sale’s men from P.C world, best of luck to J.D, hopefully he will look back on this as a learning experience and not dwell on it with bitterness, they aint worth it.
Totally agree with Noddy – i saw them at the Barrowlands during the Switch tour and JD played a blinder that night –
They should have supported him during his addiction
especially with what happened with Hutchence.
Hope the guy gets another break
Also INXS – you will never be happy with whatever singer you get – Disband INXS – Reform the Farriss Brothers and stop destroying peoples dreams
The idiots in INXS had a valid chance to re-invent themselves with some awesome new vocalist but opted for a poor Michael H wannabee. Nice job morons!!!
JD should be ashamed of himself for doing cocaine knowing what happened to the original singer. he has no-one to blame but himself . inxs has every right to drop him to avoid a repeat of there original singer .Jd should clean up his act and move on .Inxs should leave well enough alone this is not 1980 there time is done !
Can someone get this guy off the tv moaning and whining? He so wanted to be thrust into the spotlight and it’s impossible to believe that he wasn’t aware of the awesome rockstar MH shoes that were left to fill. No one forced him to go after this and anyone else who might have won that tv competition would have great expectations on their shoulders. It’s not too hard to figure out.
Sad indeed,, as Switch was an awsome piece with J.D.s Lyrics fitting like a glove with the amazing INXS sound. This album has been a constant hit with us here in the Gobi……

The great pretender-jd fortune so sick of him. He has more chances than any of the rest of the contestants who had to get anywhere (some are still out there trying)on their ownever had from the band or anyone else. He faked his perfs and is a complete phony. Sucking up to the band and impersonating michael h. He clearly doesn’t have an identity or personality of his own. The band members didn’t put the occaine up his nose he did.
I always thought Marty Casey should have won. He was a better singer, better song writer and more stable. I think they picked JD bec ause he was better looking, but they got what they had coming to them. They saw what a jerk he was on the show – that’s the real personality guys and you picked it. Hope Marty is laughing all the way to the bank.
