Ian Watkins admits child sex offences
Former Lostprophets vocalist Ian Watkins has pleaded guilty to a number of child sex offences including the attempted rape of a baby.
He had been due to stand trial starting today at Cardiff Crown Court, after previously having “furiously denied” the allegations.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to rape an 11-month-old baby and sexually assaulting a child aged under 13. He further admitted aiding and abetting a female, one of two co-defendants who cannot be identified for legal reasons, in the sexual assault of a child under 13.
He also pleaded guilty to several counts of possession of indecent photographs of a child, possessing extreme pornography depicting a person engaged in a sex act with an animal, and two counts of taking indecent photographs of children in 2007 and 2008.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of raping an 11-month-old baby.
A 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman pleaded guilty to a number of similar charges.
Watkins’ pleas have been accepted by the prosecution. He will be sentenced at a later date.
