High Voltage Named No.1 Festival By Planet Rock Listeners
Classic Rock‘s inaugural High Voltage event has been named 2010′s top festival by listeners of Planet Rock radio.
Planet Rock has just announced the results from its annual end-of-year listener survey. The survey, conducted throughout December, had listeners vote for their rock music highlights of 2010.
Festival Of The Year was taken by newcomer, Classic Rock‘s High Voltage Festival, narrowly beating two-time winner Download. High Voltage was headlined by ZZ Top and ELP in Victoria Park, London last July.
In other results, AC/DC’s headline performance at Download was designated top rock event of the year.
Black Country Communion beat Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden and Muse to top Band Of The Year, as well as taking the New Band Of The Year category. The supergroup which features Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian released their debut album in September and have remarkably only played two UK shows. Guitarist Joe Bonamassa also took best Live Act and Guitar Hero for 2010.
Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Slash, won Album Of The Year with his self-titled release.
