High Voltage: Meet Lethargy

We continue our look at some of the younger, lesser known bands playing at High Voltage. Time to find out a bit about Lethargy, who appear on the Metal Hammer stage on July 25.

  • Lethargy are from Neath in South Wales.
  • Their line-up is Phil Humphreys (vocals/lead guitar), Andrew Hunt (vocals/rhythm guitar), Marc T. Jones (vocals/bass) and Gareth Hunt (drums). It’s been constant since they started in 2000.
  • They released second album Purification on the Powerage label in November, 2008. Classic Rock said of it at the time: ‘Purification is an album that will surely make Lethargy’s momentum unstoppable.’ Their first album, Road Out Of Nowhere, was released independently in 2004.
  • If you join their mailing list at the website below, then you’ll get a free MP3 of the unreleased song Archaic Evolution.
  • Apart from High Voltage, the band play the Rheola Festival in South Wales on July 31.
  • All the info on the band is at lethargymusic.co.uk.

Really great band with high energy and brilliant tunes. Saw them supporting Riot Noise in Swansea last year and can’t wait to see them at High Voltage.

Saw these guys play years ago in neath, and they were awesome then, so I can only imagine what they’ll be like now. They saw my band play in neath last year, and they were really nice guys!

Saw Lethargy at Vice in Swansea last year – they are awesome! Highly recommended.

I saw them supporting Heaven’s Basement in 2009 (in Cardiff) and they were excellent – much better in fact (to me) than the headliners that I’d come to see!

I aim to catch them headlining someday, somewhere.

Guys, I reckon you were the highlight of my High Voltage festival! I happened to be strolling past when you where sound checking and heard this amazingly good song (which turned out to be Convenient Ignorant Amnesia), came back and watched the whole set and loved every second. So much energy, talent and great songs!!! You get my vote. Came straight home and bought Purification – a masterpiece. Highly recommended! You are going places for sure…..
