High Voltage Exclusive: ZZ Top Are Ready To Rock
ZZ Top are aiming to put on a special performance at High Voltage this coming weekend.
The Li’l Ol’ Band From Texas, as the trio are affectionately known, headline the Classic Rock stage on July 24 – and, says ZZ bassist Dusty Hill, it means a lot to them.
“Although we did the Download Festival last year, this is the first time we’ve headlined a British festival since Milton Keynes in 1991. We’ve done loads everywhere else, but coming to London and doing this is amazing. Especially as it’s the first time this – High Voltage – has been staged. We’ve been told London’s Victoria Park [which is where the festival is happening] is beautiful.”
The band don’t yet know what songs they’ll be playing in their set.
“We never make that decision until just before we go on stage. But you can guarantee there will be lots of crowd pleasers. We’re there to entertain, and that’s what we’ll do.”
ZZ Top – Hill, guitarist/vocalist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard – will go back into the studio towards the end of the year, finishing up their new album with producer Rick Rubin.
Dusty declares: “We’re taking our time, but so far it sounds real good. You’ll get to hear it early in 2011, I hope.”

Can’t wait for some new material – apart perhaps from XXX I think the ZZ’s 90’s/00’s material has been excellent. Still don’t understand why they don’t play She’s Just Killing Me form Recycler live – it’s surely their most under-rated song?!
ZZ Top should move aside and let Heaven & Hell headline.
Doh! I meant to say She’s Just Killing Me from Rythmeen!!
Rythemeen is possibly the BEST thing ZZ ever recorded, it just came out at the wrong time. Flawless CD.
