Hendrix: New Guitar, Rare Material On The Way

There’s still plenty of unreleased material yet to surface from Jimi Hendrix.

That’s according to his sister, Janie Hendrix, president and CEO of Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix, the companies which administer the Hendrix catalogue and legacy.

“We probably have another decade of music, including video. Every 12 to 18 months we’ll continue to have new releases and Dagger [Experience Hendrix’s label for board and audience recordings] official bootlegs.

“Jimi was a workaholic. After Electric Lady Studios was built he was able to record constantly for as many hours as he wanted to. It’s almost as if he knew he had only four years to accomplish everything that he did.

“We have an amazing amount of original masters, including a lot of material that hasn’t been previously released.”

One of the projects in the pipeline is the release of footage of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969.

“For the Royal Albert Hall film, several cameramen followed Jimi, Noel [Redding], and Mitch [Mitchell] around Europe for about a month. We have a couple concerts and interviews that add up to about an hour-and-a-half programme.

“New things surface kind of magically, or at least serendipitously, when we’re working on a project. When we were preparing the Woodstock DVD we found out somebody had been standing on stage and filmed the whole show in black and white.”

In addition, there’s a new Jimi Hendrix Guitar Model being developed by Authentic Hendrix with Gibson. This will be unveiled soon.

Very interesting. I personally enjoyed the album “Studio Outtakes” that was released after Hendrix’ death. Still, some of the tracks were duplicates to released songs. I am interested in seeing the videos.

I am an artist and I have painted Hendrix. If anyone is interested, I have a gallery of work on my website: http://fctull.com. Let me know what you think.
