Niger Planer, who was rhythm guitarist Den Dennis in Bad News, is to narrate Heavy Metal Britannia, a 90-minute documentary on the history of metal to be screened on March 5 by BBC 4.
Planer, of course, also famously played the character Neil in The Young Ones.
Heavy Metal Britannia features contributions from Tony Iommi, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Bruce Dickinson, Jon Lord, Ian Gillan, Brian Tatler and Edgar Broughton.
The programme, which is aired at 9pm (GMT), traces the emergence of the metal genre and takes it right up to the NWOBHM era.
