Not that bad though, for a band that’s skipped a generation and done very little promotion.

Personally, I think the albums a grower. Like Metallica’s Death Magnetic. Although, why Axl had to sing in a ‘weird’ voice on many tracks is beyond me.

As with a lot of GNR tracks, once you get the lyrics, the songs become much better.

In time, this album will prove to be a big seller.

chart position?? you mean that place where beyonce,take that and any 1 who has lasted more than a month on x factor haunt?! yes i now ac/dc cracked it, but this album has outsold black ice in its first week in the u.k and the u.s.its just the fickle nature of the charts,surely they have no relevance to us rock fans. i mean they never really have,lets look back to the heady days of the 70’s,the top selling albums in the u.k were; (1970+1971)simon and garfunkel-bridge over troubled water. (1972) was erm a various artists album entitled 20 dynamic hits.
(1973) elton john-dont shoot me……..(1974)the carpenters-the singles. (1975)stylistics-the best of.
(1976+1977) went to abba
(1978) well..where do i start..the soundtracks to saturday night fever + grease spent about half of the year in the number 1 spot and take 1+2 respectively. the number 3 spot went to abba whilst boney m took number 4
(1979) blondie-parallel lines
and finally in the u.k in 1987/1988 appetite for destruction was not even in the top ten for either of these years

for a band that came in the 80s thats still alive today this is a first, no promotions no interviews no relase date like normal bands
this is still top of the bill

This entire album debacle has been one long peice of promotion.

Dr Pepper, Some Fan being prosecuted for downloading it, Classic Rock making it Album of the year, Axl falling out with his Entire band, Every paper I see is carrying the story.

Maybe the Album did not sell well because of the complete and utter contempt Axl has showed to his fans, also it may not be any good.

apparently record company execs are fuming coz they have not been able to get hold of axl for two months.so unlike most of the musicians around today there will be no appearances on chat shows were the host casually slips in that they have got a new album about to be released,like thats not the whole reason they r there in the first place. you have just gotta love axl he just hates all the bullshit all he wants to is make music HE is happy with an turn up late on stage every now n again. fuckin legend and maybe the last of a dying breed. he just doesnt care he does things his way. like he says “y would i prostitute myself to live with fortune n shame”

The Chinese Democracy Album is up there with the best for me.It is a bit of slow burner but very diverse.
One thing that bothers me however is that an album that has been so hyped and had so much expected of it before release was always going to be up against it. So many of the songs were leaked or played live that for most of us waiting there were only seven or so new tracks.According to Seb Bach, Axl has enough material for two maybe three albums.AXL missed the P.R. chance of a lifetime and the opertunity to sent out a massive F**K YOU to all that betrayed or doubted him,had he not included any of the leaked tracks and given us an album of 14 brand new never before heard songs.
The most anticipated album of all time could have been one of the best of all time with just a little more thought.
