There’s a tape floating around of the Good Rats jamming with Tommy Bolin and Carmine Appice on “Stratus” by Billy Cobham,circa (I think) 1974.The guitar solos make you jaw hit the floor!

Inspired choice. One of my favourite bands since I discovered them in the late 80s.
Whether it’s this column or his choice of covers, Ginger never fails to impress with his expansive rnr taste. He’s the only musician who seems to still love to listen. He’s a fan. He’s one of us.

I was very fortunate to have been introduced to the music of The Good Rats by a college buddy back in the late 70’s. They reunite from time to time and still sound as good as in the old days. Their music seems timeless and brings back great memories of the bar and club days of the 70’s & 80s. Check them out later this April at BB Kings in NYC.

On the back of a recommendation from Ginger a few months ago – I bought a bundle of CD’s by the Good Rats – really quality stuff, almost a blue collar Steely Dan – they sound like they are really into it and make you wish you were in the room with them. There are some bands I wouldn’t ever want to get too close to but the Good Rats make you feel like an hour spent having a beer with them would not be wasted

Nice entry about the Good Rats, one of the most overlooked bands of the ’70s. My favorite record of theirs is “From Rats To Riches.” Don’t know if you’ve seen this video of the Good Rats, http://classicrockmusicblog.com/index.php?s=good+rats&x=11&y=9. It’s fabulous.
