Gig Of The Week: Shinedown
WHERE: London Roundhouse
WHEN: Wednesday, February 8
The Jacksonville, Florida band return here as new album Amaryllis is due out. It’s the band’s fourth record and will be released by Roadrunner on March 26.
“It’s still Shinedown, it’s just way more sophisticated,” says vocalist Brent Smith of Amaryllis. “We will be playing three new songs off the new record on the tour: Bully, Enemies and Adrenaline.”
Smith and drummer Barry Kerch are the sole remaining members from 2001, when the band were first formed. They’re now joined by guitarist Zach Myers and bassist Eric Bass (seriously!), who also plays piano.
Despite now having a significant body of work from which to choose a live set, Smith isn’t at all concerned about any difficulty in putting together a live set.
“It’s not that hard. When you’re making a record, the songs that belong just raise their hand – and the same is true of those for the live set.”
After London, the band play the following dates in February:
Thu. 9: Nottingham Rock City
Fri. 10: Newcastle O2 Academy
Sun. 12: Bristol O2 Academy
Mon. 13: Leeds O2 Academy
Tue. 14: Manchester Academy 1
Thu. 16: Glasgow O2 Academy
Fri. 17: Birmingham HMV Institute
Supporting on the tour are Halestorm, whose new album is called The Strange Case Of…, and this is due out on Roadrunner on April 9.
