It’s the annual Orange Goblin Xmas bash, with mighty London larrikins topping a bill that also features Roadsaw, Centurions Ghost, Sons Of Merrick and some bloke called Honkeyfinger!

“Honkeyfinger is an old mate of ours,” says Goblin frontman Ben Ward. “He’s on our last album (2007’s Healing Through Fire) and this guy is mental – get there early to see him!

“Roadsaw are gonna do an entire set of Kyuss covers. They’ve even got Josh Homme’s blessing. Well, if Kyuss aren’t back together, then this is the next best thing.”

As for Goblin themselves, they’ll be varying the set a little.

“We’ll probably do songs from all of our albums. But, believe me, the atmosphere will be amazing. It always for our gigs at Christmas. In fact, I reckon Christmas wouldn’t be the same for our fans without a Goblin gig.”

Ward, guitarist Joe Hoare, bassist Martyn Millard and drummer Chris Turner are not only playing, they’re also DJing later.

“It’s gonna be a very long day for us. We get in at 3pm for load in, and the whole thing doesn’t end until 6am. And anyone who knows will appreciate that we are gonna be a right state by the end – if you get the point!”

Finally, Ben Ward is hoping that Santa brings a change of fortune for his beloved Liverpool FC.

“A few wins would be nice!” he sighs. Fat chance, we say!
