Gig Of The Week: Off The Tracks Festival

EVENT: Off The Tracks Festival

WHERE: Donington Park Farmhouse, Isley Walton, nr. Castle Donington

WHEN: September 3-5

Now celebrating its 22nd anniversary, this year Off The Tracks summer festival (there’s also on in the spring) brings you two stages with more than 30 artists, plus acoustic sessions. And that’s just the tip of this summer iceberg. For real drinkers, there’s a choice from 45 different brews. For those with the inclination, there’s arts and crafts stalls, and children are also catered for (although not served up!) via specially created entertainment activities.

Bandwise, here’s a selection of those which might interest Classic Rock readers:

On Friday, September 3, the Quireboys are doing an acoustic session and Chris Corney is also on the bill, while the next day, Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds are in action.

Over the three days, there’s also the chance to catch Woolly Mammoth, Flamingo Love Parade, Misshaped Pearls and No Right Turn.

And it’s great to know that summer’s ending with the Donington area in full swing. After all, it has been the home for rock and metal summer events since 1980. So, while this isn’t Download, and it isn’t strictly speaking Castle Donington, nontheless it’s a great way to conclude the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of this location being the mecca for the music we know and love.
