Gig Of The Week: GUN
BAND: GUN
WHERE: Nottingham Rock City
WHEN: Saturday, November 14
The Scots rockers – now with a touch of Scarborough added – are more excited about this tour than any they’ve done in recent times, as vocalist Toby Jepson (he’s the Scarborough bit) explains:
“We’ve not got a whole EP on new songs ready for everyone to hear, and we can’t wait to get them into the set and see how they go down.”
The EP in question is the upcoming Pop Killer, which is released on November 16, and the band are determined to play the lot live.
“We’ve been doing a couple on the Spanish tour, which has just finished. But we’ve worked them all up now for the live performances, so they’ll form the basis of the show. Obviously we shall also do some of the old favourites, But the set will be split almost equally between the old and the new. For this band, it’s important that we don’t become just a nostalgia act – we feel we can offer so much to audiences in 2009.”
Gun are also looking forward to going back to some of their favourite venues, especially Rock City.
“That has so many fantastic memories for all of us. Gun played there a lot in the early days, as I did with Little Angels. It’s at places like this that we learnt how to do things properly. All of us love the vibe in clubs such as Rock City – and we can’t wait for the show!”
