Gig Of The Week: Glenn Hughes
WHO: Glenn Hughes
WHERE: Gateshead Sage
WHEN: Monday, September 27
The Voice Of Rock takes a break from all the excitement surrounding Black Country Communion, and goes back on the road as a solo artist. And this time around, you can expect the celebrated vocalist/bassist to concentrate on his rock output.
“I’m finally back where I belong,” he says. “So, this is very much Big Daddy doing what he does best, and what people want from me. It’s a totally rocking set from start to finish.”
With such a rich heritage to choose from, expect the performance to reflect not only his solo career, but also his time with Trapeze and Deep Purple.
“I’m enjoying myself at the moment, and what’s great is that I’m now doing what everyone’s been asking me to do for so long: to be The Voice Of Rock again.
“I’m also going to Belfast and Dublin for the first time since the Trapeze days, and we’re going back to the early 70s! I’ve also got an exciting young band around me [guitarist Soren Andersen, keyboard player Anders Olinder and drummer Pontus Engborg], and that’s keeping everything fresh.”
