Gig Of The Week: Doc Holliday
WHO: Doc Holliday
WHERE: Kingston Peel
WHEN: Thursday, June 16
This is a farewell for the southern rock heroes. Currently celebrating their 30th anniversary, it is the band’s last ever UK show.
“This is our final tour. Although none of us is leaving the music business,” says vocalist/guitarist Bruce Brookshire. “We’re each actually excited to see what the future holds! But 30 years is a long time. We appreciate the support over the years, and we are so glad to have this chance to connect with southern rock fans one more time.”
The band intend to cover as many of their albums as they can in a live situation.
“I must admit it’s a pretty hard-rocking set! We’ve tried to put in songs from the whole catalogue, with time restrictions of course. I think there will be a few surprises.”
But while this be the last chance for fans to see one of the great names of southern rock, there are still a couple of releases being planned by Brookshire, John Turner Samuelson (guitar/vocals), Eddie Stone (keyboards/guitar/vocals), Daniel ‘Bud’ Ford (bass) and Danny ‘Cadillac’ Lustinger (drums).
A 12-song compilation titled From The Vault will be released later this month. This has two new songs, plus live recordings, radio broadcasts and alternative mixes spanning their entire history.
And there are also plans for a DVD.
“A few shows are being filmed along the way. We’ll have to se how they turn out. We’ve actually got a lot of video and film in the archives, which may end up on a definitive DVD.
That is if we can keep it off of You Tube!”
